Get Yourself out of AutoPilot
I recently read an article written by Peter titled 5 Signs you are on Autopilot and it certainly made me think about my past and how different it is now that I have chosen this journey of personal development.
Think about it for a moment. Have you for many years set your clock to rise at the same time every day. Do you take the same route to work every single day. Do you ever venture to a different spot for lunch. Do you come straight home via the same route. Do you watch the same TV program week after week. What about the weekend. Are you falling into the same pattern weekend after weekend.
You may be thinking – I have no choice. You are dead wrong. You do have a choice.
Today is the day that you try something different. Today is the day that you choose to set a different plan in motion. Try one of these today. Get yourself out of autopilot!
- Set your clock 15 minutes earlier – that will give you almost 2 more hours waking time a week!
- Try a different route to work. You may be amazed at what you discover.
- Go somewhere that you have never been to before for lunch. Eat something that you have never eaten before. You may even like it! You will never know until you try.
- Take a different route home. Sure it may take you a little longer and get you home a little later but why are you in such a hurry?
- Forget the TV – pick up a book instead.
- This weekend go somewhere that you have always wanted to go or do something that you have always wanted to do but never have.
Yes we all need a routine in our lives otherwise life would become chaotic but implementing small changes in your daily routine will benefit you. You will begin to see that you can change and change for the better. You may find that the old routine will rear it’s head and once again you will be on autopilot. When this happens do not be discouraged. If you make a small change and make it work, you have accomplished something that you thought “but I have no choice”. You proved to yourself that you do have a choice.
How awesome is that!
